Background: GIZ is working towards strengthening forest management to integrate the Forest Ecosystem Services (FES) approach with an emphasis on water availability. The project is being implemented in four Indian states - Himachal Pradesh (H.P.), Uttarakhand (U.K.), Uttar Pradesh (U.P.) and Madhya Pradesh (M.P.) in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) and State Forest Departments.
Objectives: • To prepare a chapter on FES approach and incorporate it into the Forest Working Plans of Dharamshala and Rohru Forest Divisions.
The assignment will include preparation of management plans of three prioritized FES at each forest division. This will require extensive field surveys for assessment of FES and geo hydrological mapping, duly supported by remote sensing (RS) & geographical information system tools and techniques.
Tasks of the assignment: 1. Identification and prioritisation of FES in the forest division, identify the drivers affecting the prioritized FES and undertake trade-off analysis of FES at forest management unit (compartment level). 2. Identification of areas of overlapping working circles for the management of prioritised FES stakeholders 3. Development of management plans for the prioritised FES in the selected forest management units (compartment level)
